FIA General Assembly re-elects Ben Sulayem in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, December 13, 2025: Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been re-elected as President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the international federation for mobility organisations. The decision was confirmed following the election of his Presidential List by the FIA General Assembly, held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan. Ben Sulayem’s re-election marks the beginning of his second four-year term at the helm of the FIA. Since first taking office in 2021, he has overseen a period of institutional renewal, operational reform, and financial recovery across the federation. His administration has been credited with restoring financial stability, modernising governance, and reinforcing the FIA’s role as the global authority on safe, sustainable, and affordable mobility.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem leads FIA into new era of innovation and global sustainability.

Under his leadership, the FIA reversed a €24 million loss recorded in 2021 to achieve an operating surplus of €4.7 million in 2024, the strongest financial result in nearly a decade. The federation also announced a forecasted operating result of €4.4 million for 2025, underscoring continued fiscal improvement and steady performance. These results, FIA officials noted, have enabled the organisation to expand investment in member clubs and long-term development programmes worldwide. The transformation under Ben Sulayem’s presidency has included a series of institutional reforms aimed at enhancing accountability and transparency. The FIA strengthened budgetary discipline, introduced modern external audit processes, and implemented updated governance structures that align with international best practices. These measures have collectively elevated professional standards and improved operational efficiency across both the motorsport and mobility divisions.

Leadership renewal signals continued reform momentum

A key achievement of the past term has been the establishment of a dedicated commercial function within the FIA, expanding its capacity to generate sustainable revenue and deepen engagement with partners. The federation has also broadened its international footprint, supporting grassroots motorsport, developing regional mobility programmes, and advancing global initiatives focused on safety, innovation, and environmental responsibility. In his address to the General Assembly, President Ben Sulayem expressed gratitude to the FIA’s global membership for its renewed confidence in his leadership. “Thank you to all our FIA Members for voting in remarkable numbers and placing your trust in me once again. We have overcome many obstacles, but here today, together, we are stronger than ever,” he said. “It is truly an honour to be FIA President, and I am committed to continuing to deliver for the FIA, for motorsport, for mobility, and for our Member Clubs in every region around the world.”

Reforms mark new chapter for motorsport governance

The FIA confirmed that the election process adhered strictly to the organisation’s statutes, following a transparent and democratic voting procedure. Delegates from national member clubs across all regions participated in the vote, reflecting the federation’s global composition and commitment to representative governance. The process was conducted under the supervision of independent auditors to ensure full integrity and fairness. With this renewed mandate, Ben Sulayem is set to continue leading the FIA through a period of consolidation, innovation, and digital transformation, as the federation advances its agenda for sustainable growth, safety excellence, and global mobility development. – By Content Syndication Services.
